Ballarat Sale Ready Tip #2: Let's look at your Kitchen

Preparing to sell? A Kitchen is the main area that potential purchasers will consider & they can make or break a sale.

Start with cleaning your kitchen; de-clutter, clean ovens, rangehoods, splashbacks & in particular clean grout. You probably don’t want to put in a new kitchen, but doing a few updates can make a big difference. If appliances are broken, you may need to replace them. Inexpensive things to do include updating splashback tiles. If your tiles are from a long past fashion, you could replace them with something neutral. Alternatively, you can paint over them. Use a specialized tile paint, & apply with a roller. Keep the colour a neutral off-white.

A new benchtop can be installed. There are a number of kitchen suppliers in Ballarat who will cut & install a new benchtop for you.  If you have a handy man in the family, they may be able to buy either a veneer of laminate & glue to existing benchtop, or organize a replacement one to be made for you.

Laminate benchtops can be painted over, but this will probably not appeal to your purchaser.

If your sink tap is scuffed & old, consider replacing it with a new sink tap. Black taps are currently fashionable.

Cupboard fronts can be painted or replaced.  This is a good way to freshen up a kitchen. You will need to scuff the surface of the cupboard fronts, & paint with a semi-gloss or satin paint.  If the kitchen cupboard fronts are a laminate, scuff the surface, then apply a special bonding primer, then top coats.  Advice from a good paint shop is advised. I prefer Hammonds Paints, 104 Skipton St Ballarat.

New handles to cupboards & drawers can also help freshen up a look. Ballarat Joinery Supplies has a range of them.

We can offer a ‘walk & talk’ consultancy that will point out the deal breakers that potential purchasers may consider.
